As I was falling, I must have passed out because I don’t remember anything (but what happened next took the land under my feet). “Jamie wake up!”, a voice said next to me. I opened my face to find two eyes looking directly at my face. I shot up and pushed the two eyes (which turns out was a face, who would have thought) away from me. “Its me Iyer”, the eyes said. I looked around the place. I could see it was dark in the place, but I could see people sitting in rows aligned one after the other. “Where are we?”, I asked Iyer, but it looked like he was fast asleep. I looked around and saw some familiar faces in the dark. I recognized a few people too but still I didn’t know where I was. Just then a loud voice announced, “We are about to reach Edmonton in 30 minutes”.
You know dear reader; I have never experienced a heart attack. But that moment felt like my heart was going blow up. I asked the lady that was patrolling between the rows and she said the same thing, “Edmonton is where we are heading”. I looked at the screen in front of me and it just said the same thing, but in fancier words. I did the only logical thing to do and that is wake up Iyer. I shook Iyer, but he did not respond. I looked around to find some awake classmates. Just before I was starting to get sleepy, a huge bang came from behind me. I shot up to see who was there and I found none other than……Jeremy. “Sorry for waking you up” he said. “No prob” I replied. He stood up and walked over to my seat. “How are you doing?” he asked. “Good” I answered. I asked him how I got here. “Your grandma dropped you off. You were acting very weirdly and sometimes you were saying ‘destiny awaits’” Jeremy said looking at me with sympathy. I do not like people who give everyone that sympathy look. I was thinking about my grandma and how she might have reacted to me being weird.
I was going to say, “walk with me”, but the speaker was ahead of me and announced, “We are heading towards a thunderstorm, please fasten your seatbelt”. As soon as she said that the plane got into some turbulence. Jeremy rushed back to his seat and fastened his seatbelt. I fastened my seatbelt as well (I follow rules after all). The turbulence was getting stronger by the second and my stomach was letting me know that. My stomach was probably full when I boarded this flight, and you know what happens when you have a full stomach and a turbulent flight. My heart was beating against my chest. I looked around to see any flight attendants, but none were there (I guess they were doing their part in the whole fasten your seatbelts thing). Out of nowhere smoke started filling up the whole plane. I tried to unfasten my seat belt, but another force was making me sit. The mist started forming a face like shape, which resembled of a woman’s.
The whole face thing was pretty scary. I actually thought this was the part when the director said cut and we all went to our merry ways. But no, it had to be real. The face spoke in its cold tone, “So this the Jamie White, pathetic little mortal just like his dad. People think he could defeat me, well this mortal hasn’t seen my force. You, Jamie White are in my area and no one can defeat me in my area”. Face said and on that happy note disappeared. You must be like this is the part when I discover my powers and take down this wannabe Ms. World. But guess what, I fainted. The last thing I heard was “We are in Edmonton and prepare for landing”.
